Steps to take when making a claim

  • Report your accident claim to your insurance company within 24 hours
  • Submit your full details and description of the accident to your insurer
  • Provide all information requested on the claim form with all supporting documents and submit them to your insurance company as soon as possible
  • Send any additional documents to your insurance company as they may need so that you claim is processed promptly

Additional steps for motor claims*

  • Exchange particulars of all parties involved in the accident
  • Take photographs of the accident scene
  • Submit video recordings from in-car camera (if any)

What NOT to do when making a motor claim

  • Do not allow your vehicle to be towed away from the scene of the accident by a non-authorised repairer
  • Do not repair or replace any damaged item(s) without your insurance company consent
  • Do not promise or offer payment, or admit responsibility for a claim by any other person
  • Do not reply to any correspondence concerning the claim from any parties or their lawyers, instead forward all such correspondence immediately to your insurance company for handling

When to make a police report

  • A police report is required motor accident involving 
    • A government vehicle or damage to government property
    • A foreign registered vehicle
    • A pedestrian or cyclist
    • A “Hit-and-Run” case
    • Bodily injuries
    • Fatal accident
